👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ Understanding the factors that affect family doctors’ job satisfaction and decisions to continue practising family medicine is essential for developing policies that support, attract and retain Canada’s primary care workforce. 

Results from the 2025 Commonwealth Fund International Health Policy Survey of Primary Care Physicians offer insights into family doctors’ lived experiences. 

Here’s what we learned by examining data from 10 comparable countries, including Canada: 

➡️ Job satisfaction among Canadian family doctors remains strong but is slipping 
➡️ Family doctor well-being improved as the pandemic eased but remains a concern 
➡️ Sustainability of the family doctor workforce is at risk if challenges are not addressed 
➡️ Technology can be part of the solution
