CORPS OF DISCOVERY πŸ«†

New lands are being discovered, and with exploration come danger, monsters, and invasive species. The true question is: will you survive?

Corps of Discovery is a logical deduction and survival game played in chapters, with each chapter featuring its own challenges and objectives. For example, in Fauna πŸ‚ your task is to kill 3 Minotaurs, while in Flora 🌷 you must burn the giant invasive plant using Greek Fire!

These chapters are not sequential β€” this is not a campaign game. Instead, they represent different scenarios with unique rules and objectives 🎯

During the game, you will explore the land, collect resources, and spawn threats depending on which terrain you uncover. You’ll need these resources to complete the objectives required to win the chapter and, most importantly, to SURVIVE. Food and water are especially vital πŸ’§πŸ’

But when exploring, you can’t just wander around randomly β€” you need to be smart and search where it really matters, looking for the resources you desperately need!
And that’s where deduction comes into play: water will always be orthogonally adjacent to wood and vice versa, while food is always found diagonally adjacent to a Tipi. Use these logical rules to scout for what you need! πŸ”

My favorite strategy in this game is… dying of thirst ☠️
Spoiler: that’s not a good strategy. You die and lose. And I can guarantee I’ve lost more times than I’ve won. It’s a difficult game where the tides can change quickly and drastically 🫠

The three daily challenges will drain your resources and water, and at the end of each day new threats emerge, making exploration even harder. You need to act quickly before the situation gets out of hand.

You can check out my learn-while-playing solo playthrough at the LINK IN BIO, and don’t worry about spoilers because each chapter includes a variety of different maps (with even more downloadable online!) for tons of replayability.

TOP 5 ROLL/FLIP & WRITE BOARD GAMES (+ wishlist)

Since my friend @jenplayssolo suggested we share our favorite roll 'n write games for this #WildcardWednesday I took this opportunity and threw in also some flip 'n writes + my wishlist!
The plus side is: all of them have a SOLO mode!

WELCOME TO THE MOON πŸš€
If you've been around here, you know how much I love and deeply care for the best flip n write game ever made which is this 8 adventures crazy journey. Trust me, it's like having 8 games in 1, and they're all insanely good!

DINOSAUR ISLAND: RAWR 'N WRITE πŸ¦–
First of all yes yes yes to Dinosaurs. If you want more of a challenging game with dice drafting AND dice placement aspects, tons of replayability, this is the right one for you!
Small note: dinosaurs can be very dangerous.

CARTOGRAPHERS 🧭
One of the first flip n write I've ever played and it still hits all the right spots. Puzzly and crunchy in all the best ways with polyomino style tiles drawing

ROLLING REALMS 🎲
How Genius is it to take several different iconic games like Viticulture or Wingspan and make them into mini little roll and write games. Each round you will compete in 3 of them for a total of 3 rounds and 9 different mini games!

LONG SHOT: THE DICE GAME 🐎
Listen, not all games need to be strategic, deep and crunchy. Sometimes you just wanna roll the dice and see which horse gets to the finish line first and hope it is the one you invested the most in. BUT luck is not all, all your decisions can cheat the race and bend the odds in unpredictable ways. This game is for light fun but don't underestimate the strategy behind it!

WISHLIST: TEND πŸƒ
This looks to be one of the heaviest flip and writes to ever exist with tons of different possible interactions AND scratch cards AND colorful markers AND cozy.

WISHLIST: THE ANARCHY 🏰
Another heavy one with tons of interactions in which you'll defend your castle, attack the enemies castles, but also make some lovely couples meet at the Valentine's festival or participate in jousting tournaments! The follow up to Hadrian's Wall!
