The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has proposed a rule that would significantly change how federal grants and cooperative agreements are awarded, managed, and terminated across the federal government. 🏛️

These changes would move the federal research funding system away from scientific merit, collaboration, and stability, resulting in slower scientific and medical progress, as well as delayed discoveries, treatments, and cures that Americans depend on. 🔬

📝 We encourage individuals and organizations to submit public comments about this rule.
⏰ Comments are due July 13.

Need help developing and submitting comments? Research!America has generated and compiled numerous resources – including an FAQ document, video, slide deck, and much more – to help you craft effective comments in response to the proposed rule. Personal stories like these demonstrate why we do what we do as research advocates. Read more about patient experiences in this week's Weekly Letter.

The Weekly Letter also provides the latest on the appropriations process, which has been postponed in the Senate. Also, the OMB Director will testify next week during an oversight hearing on Capitol Hill. Other topics covered include clinical trials reform, a new request for information from the NIH, as well as award nomination opportunities.
