Toyota Field is doing something a little different this weekend, and both days are worth showing up for.

September 11 is the 25th anniversary of the attacks, and the Rocket City Trash Pandas are hosting a Memorial Stair Climb that morning. Gates open at 8 AM, the ceremony starts at 8:30, and then everyone climbs the equivalent of the World Trade Center's 110 stories together. Older kids can do this one, and it's the kind of thing that sticks with them. Wear real shoes, bring water, and expect a quiet, powerful morning.

Then September 12 flips the switch. The USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team takes on AUSA Redstone-Huntsville at 6:35 PM, and if you've never seen these guys play... they are GOOD. Like, stop-what-you're-doing good. Tickets are $10 and benefits USA Patriots Kids Camp, a free week of adaptive sports and mentorship for kids with limb differences. There's a jersey raffle and auction too, so bring a little extra if you want to take a piece of the night home.

One morning to remember. One night to cheer.

The Huntsville Museum of Art's Isenberg Art Academy is running Half-Day Art Camps October 5 through 9 with a POP into Art theme. Campers will explore drawing, painting, and printmaking, dig into Pop Art with bright colors and everyday images, and visit the WARHOL exhibition for inspiration. All projects are new this year.

Camp I is for ages 5 to 7, and Camp II is for ages 8 to 10. Both run 9 AM to noon downtown at Big Spring Park, and each one is capped at 12 kids. All materials are provided, so just send a nut-free snack and a drink.

Happy September! You know what that means! It's almost pumpkin patch time!

It's still August but Fall Break Camps are starting to open registration!

Fantasy Playhouse Fall Break Camp registration is now open, running October 5 through 9 On the Boulevard for ages 5 to 15. It is spooky, it is silly, and it is a legitimate week of theater work.

Kids rotate through Acting, Music and Movement, Makers, and Improv Theater Games, grouped by grade level. On the last day, families get to come watch them perform everything they have built. Before and after care is available as an add on.

Fall break arrives faster than any of us expect, so grab a spot while you are thinking about it!

Date night idea: solve a crime under a Saturn V rocket, send a kid on a field trip.

Mystery at the Museum is an after hours, fully immersive whodunit staged in the Saturn V Hall at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, presented by the USSRC Education Foundation. Every ticket helps fund field trips for Title I students, which means the kids who most need a day at the Rocket Center get one.

Here's the setup. The museum is throwing a gala to unveil a new moon rock jewelry exhibit, made in collaboration with Huntsville's own Kathy Chan. A handful of wealthy, eccentric donors get an early preview. Then the jewelry gets stolen and swapped with a fake. Now a panicking curator and a security chief who started the job about five minutes ago have to find the thief before the press and the museum director catch wind of it.

That's where you come in. Cryptic clues, playful "crimes," interactive storytelling, and enough twists that you'll start side eyeing the person you came with.

"Huntsville, We Have a Problem" was written by Lillian Wells and is produced and directed by Brianna Bond.

THE MOON CREW IS COMING TO THE ROCKET CITY. 🌕🚀

On Monday, August 31, the astronauts who flew around the Moon are standing on a stage in Huntsville to talk about it. Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency were the first humans to go around the Moon since Apollo, and they're bringing mission highlights, behind the scenes footage, and stories from their ten days aboard Orion.

Sit with that for a second. You and your kid can hear what it's like to live and work in deep space from the people who just did it, in the town that helped make it happen.

🎟️ Tickets are free but required. Online only. There is NO walk up admission, so grab them before you do anything else.
🕔 Gates open at 5 PM through the Pepsi Gates. Presentation runs 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
