🌼 Spring Allergies & Your Ears 🌼

Sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes… and blocked ears? Yep—spring allergies can affect your hearing too.

When allergies cause inflammation, it can block the Eustachian tube (the part that helps balance ear pressure). This can lead to:
👂 Ear pressure or fullness
👂 Muffled hearing
👂 Popping or “plugged” sensations

The good news? These symptoms are usually temporary and improve as your allergies settle.

Tips to help relieve ear pressure:
✔️ Limit pollen exposure (keep windows closed, shower after being outside)
✔️ Use allergy treatments like antihistamines or nasal sprays
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Try swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum

If your hearing doesn’t return to normal after allergy season, it may be time for a hearing assessment.

Exciting news for families everywhere! 💙👂

A new episode arc of Peppa Pig (available starting March 23) shines a light on childhood hearing loss through George’s journey with a new diagnosis and hearing technology.

By sharing this story in a familiar, beloved show, Peppa Pig helps:
✨ Normalize hearing differences
✨ Encourage empathy and inclusion
✨ Spark early conversations among children and families

The storyline also shares an important reminder that childhood hearing loss can occur at any time.
Passing a newborn hearing screening doesn’t guarantee hearing will remain typical. Hearing loss can develop months or even years later due to illness, genetics, injury, or unknown causes.

Ongoing monitoring of your child’s hearing and communication development is essential.
Early identification and support make all the difference.

If you have questions about your child’s hearing, our clinic is here to help. 👂💛
📣 World Hearing Day – March 3, 2026
This year’s theme: “From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children.” 📚👂 Children’s hearing matters — yet around 90 million kids and teens (ages 5–19) live with hearing loss worldwide. Over 60 % of childhood hearing loss is preventable with simple public health actions, and early detection can make a huge difference in their speech, learning, development and future opportunities. ✨

👶 Why it matters
Undetected or unaddressed hearing issues can impact education, language and social skills — but integrating ear and hearing care into school health and community programs helps kids hear, learn and thrive.

🎯 Call to action
Let’s promote routine hearing screening, raise awareness, and empower parents, teachers and health workers to act early. Together, we can help every child hear their best! 👂❤️
